Disbudding Liability Waiver & Assumption of Risk
By requesting and/or participating in disbudding services or instruction, I acknowledge and agree to the following:
I understand that disbudding is an inherently risky livestock procedure that involves the removal or destruction of horn-producing tissue in young goats. While every reasonable effort is made to perform the procedure safely and humanely, outcomes cannot be guaranteed.
I acknowledge that Compton Family Farm Dairy VA, LLC (or Instructor) is not a licensed veterinarian and does not claim to be one. All instruction and/or assistance provided is based on hands-on experience, practical knowledge, and livestock management practices, not veterinary medical advice.
I understand and accept that risks associated with disbudding may include, but are not limited to:
• Pain, stress, or discomfort
• Infection or abscess formation
• Bleeding or hemorrhage
• Incomplete disbudding or scur regrowth
• Burns to surrounding tissue
• Damage to the skull or sinuses
• Neurological injury
• Adverse reactions to restraint or heat
• Illness or death (rare but possible)
I understand that individual animals may respond differently to the procedure due to age, health status, anatomy, handling, or environmental conditions.
I voluntarily assume all risks, known and unknown, associated with disbudding and aftercare. I agree that I am solely responsible for the health, care, monitoring, and veterinary treatment of my animal(s) before, during, and after the procedure.
I hereby release, waive, and hold harmless Compton Family Farm Dairy VA, LLC, its owners, agents, and representatives from any and all liability, claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from or related to disbudding services or instruction, including but not limited to injury, illness, or death of the animal.
I understand that I may seek veterinary care at any time and that doing so is my responsibility as the animal’s owner.
By proceeding, I confirm that I have read, understand, and agree to this waiver.
