Dairy Goat Herd Shares

Dairy Herd Share Program

At Compton Family Farm & Dairy, we offer a Dairy Herd Share Program that allows individuals and families to enjoy fresh dairy products by owning a portion of our herd.

Through a herd share, you are purchasing partial ownership of the dairy animals, rather than buying milk directly. As a herd owner, you are entitled to a portion of the milk produced by the animals you own.

This arrangement allows participants to receive fresh milk from animals they partially own while supporting local agriculture and small-scale dairy farming.

How a Herd Share Works

When you join our herd share program, you purchase a share in our dairy herd. This share represents partial ownership in the animals that produce milk.

Because you own a portion of the herd, you are entitled to receive a portion of the milk produced by those animals.

Compton Family Farm & Dairy continues to house, feed, and care for the animals on behalf of the herd owners.

Boarding & Care Fee

In addition to purchasing your herd share, members pay a boarding and care fee. This fee covers the daily care and management of the animals including:

• Feed and nutrition
• Housing and pasture management
• Milking and milk handling
• General herd care

This fee supports the ongoing operation and care of the herd.

What Your Share Includes

As a herd share owner:

• You own a portion of the dairy herd
• Your animals are housed and cared for at our farm
• You receive a portion of the milk produced by the herd

The farm handles all daily responsibilities including feeding, milking, and general animal care.

Milk Availability

Milk availability may vary depending on:

• Seasonal production
• Breeding and kidding schedules
• Natural fluctuations in milk production

We do our best to ensure consistent availability for herd share members throughout the milking season.

Pickup Information

Milk for herd share owners is available for scheduled pickup at the farm. Members are responsible for bringing clean containers and collecting their portion during designated pickup times.
